OVERVIEW
The Gemini - BOM (Bill of Materials) App supports our Footwear Technical Developers (aka Tech Devs) at Nike.
The goal of this digital tool is to allow our Tech Devs to see a line-by-line online living document that communicates the ordering of component-level footwear specifications to Nike's partner manufacturing factories overseas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As one of 4 UX researchers/UX designers, I continue to partner with these Nike teams and contribute research and design implementation utilizing the agile methodology:
UX Design - Digital Product Creation (DPC) Digital Development
BPM - Business Product Managers
TPM - Technical Product Managers
Global Tech - Full Stack Engineers
TM - Transition Management
JOINING THE GEMINI - BOM TEAM
I joined the Gemini - BOM App team post V1 Launch. During onboarding, research, design, and various tests had already taken place. I am currently working on new research with our end-users, designing new features, and continuing support and optimizations of the tool.
ACTIVE VS. INACTIVE BOMs
With new research I conducted, users did not have an easily viewable area of current Active BOMs and Inactive BOMs in the current UI. I explored various design options utilizing a text chip with color indicators and new iconography in our headers.
In this implementation, I utilized current components from Nike's EDS (Enterprise Design Library) component library for our text chips, color options, and creating new iconography.
QUICK VIEW OF DATA VIA TOOLTIP
With new research I conducted, users wanted a quicker way to see key BOM data. I explored utilizing a tooltip with a hover over on an "i" icon. With conversations with my product managers and engineering, this was a quick and easy way to implement this feature in the tool fairly quickly.
UPDATED V2 NAVIGATION AND RESPONSIVE TABLE UI UPDATES
With new research I conducted, the UX Design team explored an updated navigation menu that would change dynamically and be responsive to screen size. We are also trying to implement a side-panel and resizable table to include a comment column field.
CURRENT UPDATE
Currently, updated work on the Gemini - BOM App is in-flight. Development is continuing to progress along with cross-functional teams working together to update the product roadmap. The features noted here are added to our backlog and plans to implement by engineering teams are being determined to be added to future sprints.
